How is BeyondRead different from a Kindle app, a plain EPUB reader, or just asking ChatGPT?
A store-tied reader sells you books and gives you a dictionary; a plain EPUB app opens your files and nothing more; a chatbot answers anything but does not know which page you are on. BeyondRead combines a free library of 20,000 classics, your own EPUB and PDF files, and an AI that answers about the sentence you selected in the context of that book.
Compared with a store-tied reading app
- It does not sell books; its library is public domain and free.
- It opens your own EPUB, PDF and DRM-free MOBI or AZW files. It does not open DRM-protected purchases from any store.

Is BeyondRead a Kindle alternative?
For public-domain classics and your own DRM-free files, yes. For DRM-protected store purchases, no: it cannot open them.
Can I use it without the AI?
Yes. AI can be switched off entirely, and reading, the library, bookmarks and quote cards never need an account.
Which is cheaper?
The app and the library are free. AI beyond the free monthly allowance is optional and priced in the app.
